People

Dirk Meijer - Medical Director/ CEO
Dirk W. Meijer has over fifteen years of experience in the design and analysis of clinical trials. Prior to founding Factory, he was an assistant professor in the department of experimental surgery at the University of Amsterdam where he was involved in the pre-clinical and clinical evaluation of surgical techniques and medical devices. Currently he is also a parttime expert-consultant for technology assessment for a minimally invasive surgery project. He has published numerous publications in medical journals and has given numerous presentations to professional societies. Dr. Meijer is a member of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery, and the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society. He is on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Laparo-Endoscopic Surgery and serves on the Technical committee of the EAES. He holds a M.D. and a Ph.D. in medicine from the University of Amsterdam and a M.Sc. in epidemiology and bio-statistics from Erasmus University in Rotterdam.

Joris Bannenberg - Medical Director/ COO
Joris Bannenberg has years of experience in clinical research in both experimental surgery and the medical industry. As a scientific researcher he has initiated and managed many clinical investigations in various medical disciplines with an extensive list of articles presented at scientific meetings and published in clinical journals. He has educated over 2500 European medical specialists in new surgical techniques and medical devices for European medical associations and universities. As one of the founders of Factory he has written and submitted numerous protocols for all classes of medical devices as well as surgical procedures. Joris has extensive experience in managing and monitoring clinical trials with all types of teams with different backgrounds. He worked on the level of medical director for several large medical device companies. Joris has a Medical Doctor degree from the University of Amsterdam as well as a medical Ph.D. in surgical technology. He is a member of several medical professional societies and president-elect of the European Council of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP).

Others
Our people are experienced in medical device studies and all have a medical background often with a university degree.

Our medical device team is composed of clinical monitors who have years of Operating Room experience and are selected on their ability to transfer knowledge. Some of them are medical doctors, others are former scrub nurses with different specialties. For each project Factory makes an in depth in-house inventory of the requirements that are unique to your project so that "your" team has the qualities and experiences that will be demanded during the course of the trial.
